A doctor has spoken about the risks of arthritis

In the presence of arthritis, a person may experience signs such as swelling, painful sensations, limited mobility and reddening of the skin in the area of the affected joint. Alena Khripkova, a general practitioner at SberZdorovye medical company, told Izvestia on December 21 about the risks of arthritis.
"In the absence of timely treatment, arthritis can cause progressive joint damage. Over time, it can lead to the appearance of chronic pain, limitation of joint mobility, their deformation and, as a consequence, to a decrease in the quality of life," the expert noted.
According to the expert, to date there is no unequivocal evidence of a causal relationship between cold and the development of arthritis. However, there are studies indicating that patients with already established arthritis have an increase in joint pain when weather conditions change. There can also be a decrease in circulation in the cold, which happens particularly due to layered clothing, resulting in increased stiffness and discomfort. Often, there is also a lot of muscle tension, especially when a person is traveling on slippery areas or snowdrifts.
According to the expert, when a person has arthritis, they may experience symptoms such as swelling, pain, stiffness, and redness of the skin around the affected joint. In addition, some forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, can lead to damage to other organs, such as the heart and liver.
"To reduce your risk of developing arthritis, it is recommended that you follow certain measures. It is important to maintain regular physical activity - to engage, for example, swimming or Nordic walking about three to four times a week for 40-50 minutes," - summarized Khripkova.
Earlier, on November 23, the expert doctor of the laboratory "Gemotest" Olga Ulankina told "Izvestia" about the products that provoke the occurrence of gout. According to her, one of the causes of gout is a violation of protein metabolism and the use of products that contain large amounts of purines. Their natural sources are offal, red meat, lemonades, alcohol and seafood.
