The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the settlements of Uspenovka and Novopustynka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 20.

The ministry said that Uspenovka was liberated as a result of the actions of the units of the South grouping, while the Center liberated Novopustynovka.

In addition, the Russian army struck various formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during the week, as well as destroyed six US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, three British Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles and a Neptun long-range guided missile.

During the week, 59 Ukrainian militants surrendered at the line of contact.

Earlier, on December 19, it became known about the liberation by the Russian Armed Forces of the settlements of Zelenovka and Novy Komar in the DNR. It is noted that they were liberated by units of the Vostok group.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
