There were 267 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day


Over the past 24 hours, 267 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 20 people were killed and 312 injured. 11 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, December 20, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 98 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, nine people were killed, another 91 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 18 child pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 44 occurred at crosswalks and 54 outside the crossing zone.
There were 14 accidents involving buses on Russian roads, in which there were no fatalities, but 18 road users required medical assistance. Five of those injured in accidents involving buses were child passengers. The cause of five accidents with buses was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers.
Thus, in the Chelyabinsk region on a regional highway in the evening in the conditions of snowfall, the driver of the bus, which was carrying 27 passengers (children's swimming team after the competition), made an exit from the road, after which the bus overturned. As a result of the accident, five passengers of the bus, four of them children aged 10-11 - two boys and two girls - were injured and after medical treatment were sent for outpatient treatment.
With the participation of minors 35 road accidents were registered, in which 39 young road users were injured, including 21 passengers. There are no dead children.
"On the eve of the weekend we urge motorists in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, rearrangement, turning, turning and stopping. In case of a negative weather forecast, it is recommended to refrain from traveling long distances until the road situation improves, and in urban areas to use public transport," - emphasized in a conversation with "Izvestia" Deputy Head of the Department of Propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan.
The traffic police reminded that the life and health of young passengers depend on the skills of drivers, their experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior on the road. Motorists were urged to choose a safe speed limit, especially in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather.
Earlier in the day, the Federation Council approved at the plenary session of the law, which increases fines for a number of traffic violations, reduces the discount on payment of fines, and introduces punishment for repeated driving without a MTPL policy. The law should come into force on January 1, 2025.
