Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired in May) will not be able to retain the presidency because the country does not need him. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on December 20.

"Nobody needs him [Zelensky] in the war either, and he won't hold on to the chair for long," Medvedev noted with his Telegram channel.

According to him, Zelensky's fundamentally wrong rhetoric jeopardizes the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. He added that negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin are possible only after Zelensky's legal return to the post of the head of state.

On 16 December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an enlarged meeting of the Defense Ministry board that the Kiev regime was losing signs of statehood and that the current Ukrainian leadership was illegitimate. The head of state separately emphasized that the Russian Federation was not fighting against the Ukrainian people, but specifically against the neo-Nazi regime, which rules the country, having seized power in 2014. The current leadership began to rule in Kiev illegally, and this is especially important because it commits crimes every day, violating the rights of both the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.

Earlier, on December 4, Medvedev predicted Zelensky's disgraceful emigration or execution.

On November 26, Verkhovna Rada MP Maryana Bezuglaya said that Ukraine's statehood is threatened with collapse due to the numerous problems of the Ukrainian army. He linked such a forecast to the facts of corruption at all levels.
