It became known when fines from cameras for driving without MTPL insurance will be introduced

Control over the presence of a valid CMTPL insurance policy with the help of cameras of photo-video registration of violations in all regions of Russia is planned to be introduced from March 1, 2025, while fines in automatic mode may start to be issued to drivers by the end of next year. This was announced by the president of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RUIA), Evgeny Ufimtsev, at a press conference, reports the correspondent of "Izvestia" on December 20.

According to Ufimtsev, the first time fines will not come, the violator will only receive notifications on "Gosuslugi".

"The experiment on cameras will be held until the end of 2025. After two or three months, if everything is normal and there will be no failures, we will propose that it will end earlier and it will be possible to issue fines," - said the President of RAMI.

Also in RAMI said that from March 1, CMTPL insurance will not be mandatory when registering a vehicle in the State Automobile Inspectorate.

December 18, it was reported that, according to the head of the "National Insurance Information System" Nikolai Galushin, under the check of CMTPL insurance from the cameras will be all passing cars without exception. Earlier it was assumed that checking the presence or absence of a policy will accompany the fixation of any other traffic violation. At the same time, the first regions, where the check of CMTPL insurance with the help of road cameras will be launched, will be Moscow, Sverdlovsk and Volgograd regions.

December 12, the State Duma passed a bill to introduce a fine of up to Br5 thousand for repeated driving without a MTPL policy. The Russian Union of Auto Insurers supported the bill, but noted that the new penalty will be effective only if the violation is recorded with the help of automatic cameras.
