SF approved the introduction of criminal punishment for repeated sale of vape devices to children

At the plenary session on December 20, the Federation Council approved the law on the introduction of criminal liability for the repeated sale of vape products to minors.

This is an amendment to Article 151.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Retail sale of alcoholic beverages to minors"), which, among other things, applies to the sale of tobacco products, nicotine-containing products, hookahs and vapes to children.

Thus, violation of this law will be punishable by corrective labor up to one year or a fine of up to Br80 thousand.

Earlier, December 17, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the second and third readings of the bill, providing criminal liability for repeated sale of tobacco products to minors. December 19, it was approved by the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building.

Before that, on December 10, the authors of the project noted that the current legislation has only administrative punishment for repeated sale of vape products to children. At the same time, the results of a study conducted by the Human Institute ROMIR showed that 72% of surveyed teenagers 11-17 years old, buying vapes and similar electronic systems for nicotine consumption, said that sellers have never refused to release such goods to them.
