SF approved the law on suspending the ban on terrorist organizations' activities

The Federation Council at its plenary session on 20 December approved the law on suspending the ban on the activities of a terrorist organization.

This is an amendment to the federal law "On Countering Terrorism" adopted in 2006.

It is specified that the ban on the activities of an organization may be suspended by a court decision on the basis of an application of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation or his deputy. If the court makes a positive decision, the list of terrorist organizations banned in Russia will be amended.

At the same time, suspension is possible if the organization has stopped activities "aimed at propaganda, justification and support of terrorism" or committing relevant crimes.

Earlier, on November 26, a draft law was submitted to the State Duma proposing to introduce a mechanism for temporarily suspending the ban on the activities of an organization that is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
