Krasnodar man detained for aiding Ukrainian fraudsters

In Krasnodar, a 20-year-old local resident was detained, who is suspected of aiding Ukrainian fraudsters through unauthorized access to computer information. This was reported on December 20 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk in her Telegram-channel.

"The attacker acquired from third parties hacked accounts of citizens registered on the Unified portal of state and municipal services. With their help, he activated SIM-cards of telecom operators and entered inaccurate data about subscribers into the billing system. Then the young man transferred the right of access to these numbers to the organizers of call-centers, which were located in Russia and Ukraine," - wrote Volk.

It is reported that the police during searches found 55 phones, as well as 162 bank and SIM-cards. After the seizure of SIM-cards it was found that they were used in the commission of fraud in 20 subjects of Russia. The damage exceeded the amount of 23 million rubles.

According to a representative of the Interior Ministry, the suspect is charged and a measure of restraint in the form of detention.

Earlier, on December 19, it became known that hackers identified a small unit of the Dnieper office of con artists involved in the network of fraudulent call centers disclosed in Russia. According to hackers, these people introduced themselves over the phone employees of different structures in order to steal money. At the same time, it was noted that the work of such offices is planned and is conducted under the guidance of the Ukrainian security services.
