The Mi-8 helicopter, which flew out to search for the missing An-2 airplane in Kamchatka, returned to the airport of Mayskoye village due to heavy snow drifts. This was reported on December 20 by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka region Sergei Lebedev.
"There is pozemka on the ground. There is no possibility to conduct a search. The board left for Mayskoye," he wrote on his page in the social network "VKontakte".
Lebedev also specified that the ground group is still moving towards the probable crash site, the board is still not found.
Earlier in the day Lebedev reported that the helicopter with rescuers on board returned to the village of Ossora due to bad weather and flew again to search.
The disappearance of the An-2 aircraft became known on December 19. Minister of Emergency Situations of Kamchatka region Sergey Lebedev reported about the beginning of the rescue operation. At the same time, the Eastern Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted that in Kamchatka began an investigation into the fact of an aviation accident with the aircraft An-2.
Later Lebedev said that from the aircraft received a signal of emergency landing. In the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region specified that on board the aircraft were 800 kg of commercial cargo, two crew members and one passenger.
At the same time it was reported that to the place of the alleged emergency landing of the plane An-2 in Kamchatka went to the ground group of rescuers.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region also noted that a helicopter with rescuers from the Regional Search and Rescue Base (RRSB) flew from the village of Milkovo. In addition, a helicopter Mi-8 with personnel from the Kamchatka Rescue Center on board was planned to depart from the town of Yelizovo.
Soon Sergei Lebedev said that the rescuers caught a stable radio signal of the beacon in the search area of the missing An-2 airplane in Kamchatka, and the Mi-8 helicopter landed and is waiting out the weather.
Also, a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), Artem Korenyako, said that the search for the An-2 plane missing in Kamchatka is complicated by difficult weather conditions and terrain features.
