A resident of the Kamchatka region has been sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime colony for high treason because of cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). This was reported on December 20 in the press service of the FSSB in the region.

"The Kamchatka regional court found him guilty of the incriminated crime and sentenced him to 14 years of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a high-security colony," TASS quoted the press service of the agency as saying.

It is specified that the convict did not recognize his guilt in the committed crime and filed an appeal to review the court decision, which was rejected.

The man was detained in January this year under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High Treason"). The investigation found that he began cooperating with the SBU after the start of the special military operation. The convict provided Ukrainian officers with information about the work of the Russian borders and participants of the SSO from the Kamchatka region.

Earlier, on December 19, it was reported that a resident of Khakassia was detained on suspicion of treason for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It is established that in November 2022 he made a money transfer for the purchase of special automotive equipment for the AFU. The man confessed to committing the crime. He was elected a preventive measure in the form of two months in custody.
