The Red Cross commented on the visit to Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war

The International Committee of the Red Cross has visited 4,700 prisoners of war from February 2022 to the present, the organization's spokesman Christian Cardon told Izvestia.
"From February 2022 to date, the ICRC has visited 4,700 prisoners of war," he said.
Although the International Committee of the Red Cross does not participate in POW exchange operations, it is ready to play the role of a neutral mediator if the parties to the conflict ask it to do so, Christian Cardon specified.
According to him, the organization's employees monitor how the rights of prisoners of war are observed.
In December, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin called on the ICRC to "exacting work" with the Ukrainian authorities "in order to stop their gross violations of international humanitarian law".
