Finland's defense chief says it is preparing for a prolonged conflict


The head of the Finnish Defense Ministry Antti Häkkänen reported that the country has started actions to strengthen the country in case of prolonged military conflicts. The corresponding statement was published on the website of the state's defense ministry on December 19.
"We will strengthen Finland's ability to withstand large-scale exposure, military pressure and potential large-scale wars that could drag on for years," Häkkänen said.
It is specified that this report of the Finnish Defense Ministry was the first since the country joined the NATO alliance. It specifies that "the key threat to the security of Europe and Finland" is the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on November 24, it was reported that in Western Finland launched a course for women, where they will be taught skills for survival in case of conflict. The participants receive skills that may come in handy in the event of armed conflict.
