In St. Petersburg, a child who was a passenger in a train accident in the Murmansk region was taken to a children's hospital, 10 more people are examined by the medical service. This was reported by the vice-governor of the city Oleg Ergashev on December 19.
Train No. 11 Murmansk - St. Petersburg arrived with passengers at Ladoga station of the Northern Capital in the afternoon on Thursday, December 19.
"The medical service of St. Petersburg examined 11 people, including one child. To the in-patient department of the Research Institute of Emergency Aid named after I.I. Janelid. I.I. Janelidze admitted nine adults. They were fully examined and released in satisfactory condition," Ergashev wrote in his Telegram channel.
The child was taken to the Children's City Hospital No. 19 named after K.A. Raufkhus, the vice-governor added. He also noted that all necessary measures are being taken to provide medical assistance to the injured.
Thecollision of two trains occurred on December 18 at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya. The passenger train, traveling on the route Murmansk - St. Petersburg, collided with a freight train. As a result of the collision, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars derailed.
According to the latest data, the accident killed two people, 31 people were injured. The Ministry of Health specifies that 10 victims, including three children, are in serious condition. Seven victims of the accident were transferred to regional medical centers, five of them are being treated in the regional hospital.
According to the passengers, some of them were miraculously unharmed. At the moment of the incident, the lights went out, everything around shook, there was smoke and sparks. One woman noted that she and her spouse were not physically hurt, but were stressed during the incident.
Later on December 19, Russian Railways reported that train traffic through the Knyazhaya station in the Murmansk region was restored.
A criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was initiated on the fact of the accident. According to preliminary data, the collision of the trains occurred due to spontaneous movement of a defective freight train.
