The Russian Defense Ministry reported about the feats of the Russian Armed Forces fighters in the special operation zone

On December 20, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).

Thus, the battalion, which included Captain Vitaly Guz, together with the anti-tank platoon entrusted to him, while advancing through the terrain, was attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The enemy set up an ambush on the route of the convoy and a battle ensued, during which the militants fired heavy mortar and machine gun fire.

Then Guz moved with his unit to the flank of the column and opened fire on the AFU positions. The enemy had to go on the defensive, which gave the main forces of the AFU battalion a chance to get out of the kill zone and reorganize into combat formation. However, as the Russian fighters moved forward, they were again attacked by militants who had set up firing positions in abandoned industrial buildings on the outskirts of the settlement. Guz gave a command to his subordinates and himself opened fire from an anti-tank system on the machine gun and grenade launcher points.

Thanks to the professionalism and bravery of the soldiers of the ATGM platoon under the command of Guzya, the enemy machine-gun and grenade launcher units equipped in the buildings were destroyed, after which the serviceman and his subordinates pulled the crew out of the armored personnel carrier hit by the enemy and provided them with first aid, thus saving their lives.

The Defense Ministry also noted the merits of Private Dmitry Tretyakov, who was part of a unit performing a combat mission to protect and defend a border near one of the settlements. He detected an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) adjusting enemy artillery fire on Russian troops. Tretiakov then used a counter-drone gun, causing the Ukrainian drone to lose control and crash. The serviceman took his reconnaissance drone into the air and saw the position of enemy artillery from which the Russian troops were firing and transmitted the coordinates to the command via radio communication.

Russian artillery opened fire on the AFU position at the identified coordinates, destroying several of the militants' guns. The enemy, deprived of artillery support, retreated. Thanks to Tretiakov's quick and professional actions, the Russian troops' positions remained uncovered and the AFU offensive was thwarted.

Earlier, on December 19, it was reported that servicemen of the artillery crew of the 152-millimeter towed gun "Hyacinth-B" of the group of troops "Center" destroyed a stronghold of the AFU in the Krasnoarmeysk direction of the special military operation.
