The term of arrest of the third defendant in the case of ex-deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry Timur Ivanov Alexander Fomin was extended until the end of March. This was reported to "Izvestia" in the Basmanny Court of Moscow on December 19.
As specified by the interlocutor, the term of Fomin's detention was extended until March 23.
Ivanov's detention became known on April 23. The next day he was arrested. Ivanov is accused of taking a bribe in the amount of Br1.185 billion. According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors working at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and signed contracts with them in exchange for illegal personal remuneration. On June 20, he was dismissed from his post. A friend of the former deputy minister, Sergei Borodin, and co-founder of Olimpsitistroy LLC, Alexander Fomin, were also taken into custody as part of the criminal case.
Deputy Minister's lawyer Denis Baluev told Izvestia that Ivanov is accused of patronizing the agency's contractors in exchange for property benefits. Also on Wednesday, searches took place in the apartment of the arrested. Exclusive Izvestia footage shows law enforcement vehicles parked in the courtyard of a house in the center of Moscow, and automatic gates closed with handcuffs.
Timur Ivanov served as general director of Oboronstroy from March 2013 until his appointment as deputy defense minister in 2016, the company specializes in building housing for military personnel.
