A number of U.S. Republican lawmakers spoke in favor of nominating entrepreneur Ilon Musk as a candidate for the post of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. This was reported on December 19 by Senator Rand Paul.

"The Speaker of the House doesn't have to be a member of Congress. Nothing will upset the [bureaucratic] swamp more than the election of Elon Musk," Paul wrote on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

In addition, Musk's candidacy, leaving a comment under Paul's post, was supported by Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Green. In her opinion, such a decision could be a way to split the political establishment of the United States.

On the eve of Ilon Musk said that the bill on the temporary budget of the United States is a crime. In his opinion, all members of the House of Representatives who will vote in favor of this bill should be removed from their posts.

In November, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that Musk, as well as businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, would head a new agency in his administration, which would focus on improving government efficiency and fighting bureaucracy.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on Nov. 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.
