Violations of Russian legislation, as well as disrespect for Russian citizens and the country itself are grounds for taking action against the video hosting YouTube. This was reported to "RIA Novosti" in Roskomnadzor on December 19.

The agency noted that they have a sufficient number of tools to regulate the work of this platform, and the right to use them remains with the Russian side.

"Numerous violations of Russian law, disrespect for our country and citizens are grounds for taking action against YouTube. We have enough tools to motivate the company in such a situation, the right to use them remains with the Russian side," - specified in Roskomnadzor.

As explained in the agency, Google LLC corporation has not been officially operating in Russia for two years, preferring the bankruptcy procedure of the Russian branch and ceasing to support the infrastructure of its caching servers in Russian communication networks. And this approach, as a consequence, leads to a decrease in the quality of the video service, added the RKN.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the year" emphasized that the video hosting YouTube and Google Corporation should not "abuse the Network" and must comply with Russian legislation. The head of state pointed out that people often start looking for content on the topic of culture or music on video hosting, and the search engine offers them something that is propaganda and has nothing to do with the request.

The day before, on December 18, the Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadaev said that half of the traffic that YouTube loses, "lands" on Russian video platforms. They are actively developing, there are new contenders ready to enter the market, and they appear very quickly.

The head of the film concern "Mosfilm" director Karen Shakhnazarov on November 13, spoke out against the slowdown in Russia video service YouTube. He raised his position at a meeting with the Russian president in the Kremlin. In an interview with Izvestia on November 14, the director added that it has become much more difficult to watch movies in Russia and this is a blow to many people.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on November 15 that the problem of YouTube slowdown in Russia should be solved at the level of Roskomnadzor, but in general it is not a priority in the current situation. He also clarified that the problem with the video hosting service is related to the position of the host of the service, who does not want to comply with the relevant Russian laws.
