Russian cosmonauts went into outer space for the second time in 2024

Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin and Ivan Wagner went into outer space from the International Space Station (ISS) for the second time in 2024. This is reported on Thursday, December 19, on the website of the state corporation Roscosmos.
The exit with an estimated duration of six hours and 43 minutes began at about 18:36 Moscow time. The main tasks are to install and remove scientific equipment on the outer surface of the Russian segment modules "Zvezda", "Search" and "Science".
In particular, the cosmonauts will mount and connect the SPIN-X1-MVN X-ray spectrometer and move the external control panel of the European remote manipulator ERA from one place to another. At the end of the exit, they will push the stowage with dismantled equipment into space.
Earlier, Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub went into space to install scientific equipment on April 25. The tasks were completed ahead of schedule, so the exit took four hours and 36 minutes. At the same time, Kononenko managed to take several selfies.
