Deputy head of the Federal Service for the Control of Alcohol and Tobacco Markets Elena Afanasenko was arrested in Moscow for a large bribe. This was reported by the press service of Basmanny court of Moscow on December 19.

The woman is charged under Part 6 of Article 290 ("Receiving a bribe in a particularly large amount"), paragraphs "a", "c" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Receiving a bribe, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group, in a particularly large amount"). She was placed in custody for a period of one month and 30 days.

"According to the investigation, Afanasenko E.G. and other defendants in the case received a bribe in a particularly large amount for licensing the turnover of alcoholic beverages, as well as for general patronage, expressed in the provision of assistance and solution of administrative and economic issues," - stated in the message of the court.

Earlier, on December 12, Basmanny court sent the former governor of Ryazan region Nikolai Lyubimov to the pre-trial detention center for two months in the case of taking a bribe on a particularly large scale. According to the investigation, the man received a bribe for general patronage and connivance in office while leading the region.
