Head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov instructed to award the employees of the crew of the train, which was traveling from Murmansk to St. Petersburg and collided with a freight train. This was reported in the press service of the company on December 19.

"The head of Russian Railways has instructed to present to awards employees of the crew of the train № 11 Murmansk - St. Petersburg. Oleg Belozerov noted the professional and competent actions of the train crew during the accident in the Murmansk region," - stated in the message of Russian Railways in Telegram-channel.

It added that Belozerov also offered to note the passengers who helped evacuate people from the train, specified "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier in the day it was reported that the movement of trains at the site of the collision of trains was restored. It was specified that while the passage of trains will take place in reverse mode on one track.

Thecollision of two trains occurred on December 18 at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya. Passenger train, traveling on the route Murmansk - St. Petersburg, collided with a freight train. As a result of the collision, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars derailed.

According to the latest data, the accident killed two people, 31 people were injured. The Ministry of Health specifies that 10 victims, including three children, are in serious condition.

Seven victims of the accident were transferred to regional medical centers, five of them are being treated at the regional hospital.

A criminal case was opened under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to preliminary data, the collision of the trains occurred due to spontaneous movement of a faulty freight train.
