Ukrainian sociological group reported 67% of citizens distrust military commissars

Two thirds of the interviewed Ukrainians do not trust employees of territorial recruitment centers (TACs, an analogue of military commissions in Ukraine). This is reported in the results of a survey published by the Ukrainian sociological group Rating on 19 December.

According to the results of the survey, only 29% of Ukrainian respondents have confidence in military recruitment centers, while on the contrary - 67%. It is specified that the highest level of distrust was shown by young men from the western and border regions of Ukraine.

At the same time, trust in other categories of the military was at a high level, for example, 76% of respondents trust those rear servicemen who are not military commissars.

Earlier in the day, a member of the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Fedienko, said that he received many appeals from citizens and organizations that the TCCs violate the law, for example, by forcibly mobilizing Ukrainians who have reservations. The MP appealed to military commissions with a request to stop this practice.

Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on 16 December that the methods of forced mobilization of the country's citizens were ineffective. The former leader of the country believes that the authorities should establish normal provision for all military personnel and introduce demobilization.

Before that, on December 11, an unknown driver picked up a man on the move, who tried to escape from the employees of the TCC. The driver saw the Ukrainian being chased by the military officer, opened the door of his car and allowed the fugitive to get in.

In April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired on May 20) signed a law on toughening mobilization. In particular, he lowered the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 and signed a law on the creation of an electronic register of persons liable for military service, which combines information on the personal data of Ukrainians, including details of domestic and foreign passports. At the same time, these documents do not say anything about demobilization.
