AFU losses in Kursk region amounted to more than 225 servicemen over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 225 servicemen in Kursk Region over the past 24 hours. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 19.

The enemy's equipment was also destroyed. Among them - one tank, three infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), five armored combat vehicles, two vehicles, 155-millimeter self-propelled artillery unit Krab made in Poland, three 122-millimeter howitzers D-30, 122-millimeter self-propelled artillery unit 2S1 "Gvozdika", as well as a field ammunition depot.

It is specified that the units of the Russian group of troops "North" defeated the AFU formations in the areas of Basovka, Viktorovka, Daryino, Kositsa, Kruglenkoye, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Melovoy, Mirny and Sverdlikovo in Kursk region. In the course of these actions, two counterattacks by enemy assault groups were repulsed.

In addition, the Ukrainian side's equipment and enemy manpower were hit in the areas of Gornal, Guevo, Kurilovka, Makhnovka, Maryevka, Novoivanovka, Orlovka, Pogrebki, Rubanshchina, as well as Belovody, Vodolagi, Veselovka, Zhuravka, Miropolye and Novenkoye in the Sumy region.

Earlier on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the "Results of the Year" that the number of AFU armored vehicles hit in Kursk region has already surpassed the number of all vehicles hit last year along the entire line of contact. He added that the Russian servicemen would receive all due payments for the equipment hit in the Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
