The Russian government has submitted a bill to the State Duma to extend the maternity capital program until December 31, 2030. This is evidenced by a document published in the Duma electronic base on December 19.
"The draft federal law is developed in order to fulfill the list of instructions of the President of the Russian Federation on the implementation of the message to the Federal Assembly in terms of extending the maternity (family) capital program until 2030", - stated in the explanatory note to the bill.
The draft states that from 2027 to 2030 about 5 million families in Russia will be entitled to maternity capital. According to preliminary estimates, the additional financial expenditures, which will be directed to the payment of matkapital, will total more than 2.7 trillion rubles.
On the eve of the government meeting, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the maternity capital program will be extended until 2030. He noted that such a measure of state aid has proved its effectiveness and demand. According to him, more than 14 million certificates have been issued during the entire existence of the program, and its extension will allow to support about 5 million more families.
Before that, on November 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the maternity capital will be indexed by 7.3%. The indexation will take place from February 1, 2025.
