The captain of the second wrecked tanker has been sent under house arrest

The court elected a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for two months to the captain of the tanker "Volgoneft-239," which wrecked in the Black Sea. This was reported by a correspondent of "Izvestia" from the courtroom on December 19.

It is specified that this measure will be in force until February 17.

"The captain of the "Volgoneft-239", accused of violating the rules of safety of movement and operation of maritime transport (part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest," - adds in its Telegram-channel Investigation Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia's Investigative Committee (IC) for Crimea and Sevastopol.

Earlier in the day, the court arrested the captain of the Volgoneft-212 tanker for two months.

Before that, on December 15, tankers "Volgoneft-212 " and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. As a result, there was a spill of oil products.

The first vessel evacuated 13 people: one of them died, 11 were injured. All 14 crew members were evacuated from the tanker Volgoneft-239 on Monday. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious because of the death of a sailor.

Governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev said that after the oil spill in four settlements of the Kuban introduced a high alert mode. Later, on December 17, he specified that after the accident with two tankers fuel oil was carried ashore for dozens of kilometers, two municipalities of the region introduced a state of emergency. Specialists have determined the algorithm of cleaning works.

December 19, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia said that more than 860 tons of soil contaminated with oil products had already been removed from the coasts. Monitoring of 70 kilometers of coastline continues. No new fuel oil stains have been found.
