The Russian Prosecutor's Office has called on Elena Markelova, a pensioner from Kazan, whose personal account on the Gosuservices portal had been hacked by fraudsters. As a result, she owed 1 million 900 thousand rubles to two banks. On December 19, the pensioner addressed the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with this problem in a live broadcast of "The Year's Results".

After the appeal, the prosecutor's office contacted Markelova and informed her that it would send a lawsuit to court and the debt would be written off, while the bank would become the victim in the criminal case.

"You do not need to pay for this loan, this loan will be recognized as null and void," - said the prosecutor's office.

Elena Markelova had to get a job as a cleaner because of these loans. The prosecutor's office told the victim that it is taking everything under its control and will solve her situation.

"I did not think that it was so immediately, quickly and that exactly today. I was waiting. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Monday. But that it is now at once, the program has not yet ended, "Results of the Year", and they have already come to me and are already calling from the prosecutor's office," the pensioner said in a conversation with Izvestia.

Putin said during the "Results of the year" that the volume of fraud in Russia is appalling, banks are obliged to check the solvency of customers before approving a loan. The head of state pointed out that if more than 50% of a citizen's income goes to servicing a loan, it becomes more expensive for the bank to service such a loan.
