It is likely that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (whose term of office expired on 20 May) will go abroad. Russian leader Vladimir Putin said this on December 19 during "The Year's Results," answering a question about whether he could grant the politician asylum.

"If he, excuse me, suddenly, like a devil out of a snuffbox, appeared somewhere and said that 'I need political asylum' - well, Russia does not refuse anyone," Putin noted.

The Russian president admitted that Zelensky, like many of Ukraine's top political leaders, would go abroad, where he would be supported by the same people whose interests he serves today.

On 26 November, Verkhovna Rada MP Maryana Bezuglaya said that Ukraine's statehood is threatened with collapse due to the numerous problems of the Ukrainian army. She linked such a forecast to the facts of corruption at all levels.

Back in July, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, noted that even more radicalized people might come to power in Ukraine, and the Ukrainian leader together with his administration would flee to the West, where he would be "torn apart by the crowd".

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.

Direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked by journalists.

Invitations to the events were also extended to representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in the Russian Federation.

The first live broadcast took place in December 2001. By the president's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
