- Putin calls Western attempts to forget about the fight against Nazism an attack on Russia

Western attempts to forget about the fight against Nazism and the sacrifices made for this purpose fit into their line of attack on Russia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" on December 19.
"We will never forget the sacrifices that were made by our people to defeat Nazism. The main thing is that we do not forget it. And the fact that other countries are trying to forget about it is natural for them, for them it is an attack on Russia," Putin said when asked about his attitude to the fact that Western countries did not invite Russia to participate in the commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy.
At the same time, the head of state noted that Russia will be glad to see and receive everyone who wishes to visit the country to mark the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
On June 6, celebrations were held in Normandy in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings. They were attended by about 20 states. The celebration was held without the participation of Russia.
However, the company - the organizer of the ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the landing in Normandy Mission Libération on May 18 reported that the invitation to participate in the event was sent to Russia. However, it was not specified which Russian officials were invited. Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov told Izvestia that the Russian side did not receive invitations to the ceremony.
Zelensky was also present at the celebration. On June 5, Putin said that it is impossible to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing operation in Normandy together with those who praise the Nazis.
Russia will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025. The program of celebrations in 2025 includes more than 170 events at the federal level alone, Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova said on November 19. According to her, the upcoming celebrations will be the largest for all past decades.
The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 will be combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked by journalists.
Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in the Russian Federation also received invitations to the event.
As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million.
The first live broadcast took place in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
