Russian President Vladimir Putin did not condemn US President Joe Biden for pardoning his son in two court cases. The head of state said this on December 19 during the "Results of the year".

"As for Biden - he is a politician. It is always important what is more in you - a politician or a man. It turned out that there is more of a man in Biden. I would not condemn him for that," the president pointed out.

At the same time, Putin recalled examples from history, in particular the situations with Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan, Peter the Great and his son Alexei, as well as Joseph Stalin and his captured son Yakov, where there was no question of leniency.

Biden decided to pardon his son on December 2 in honor of Thanksgiving. Reacting to this, Hunter Biden stated that he intends to dedicate his life to helping people with addictions. In September, Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to nine felony counts of failing to pay taxes, and in June, he pleaded guilty to three felony counts of weapons possession.

The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format, titled "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin," allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked about by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in the Russian Federation also received invitations to the event.

As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million. The first live broadcast was held in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
