Work in the countryside is becoming more and more interesting, and this industry requires highly qualified personnel, therefore the attention to work in agriculture should be increased. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" on December 19.

"We need to talk about it not only at events of this kind once a year, but to talk about it constantly and create conditions for young people to come and work in this sector of the economy with interest. For its part, the state will do everything to attract students needed for this industry," the Russian leader said.

He noted that agricultural producers should create conditions to send people to train personnel to work in the countryside. And in the course of training they should select personnel for themselves, provide them with employment at enterprises and practical training.

The head of state said that agriculture is one of the key sectors of the Russian economy. It is developing at a good pace - 3% per year, and this cannot but please.

Earlier, on December 10, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture expects to ensure technological leadership of the country in the agro-industrial complex (AIC) in 12 years. She recalled that the country relies on its food security doctrine to ensure sovereignty.

Prior to that, on December 5, Putin said that Russia is in first place in the world in terms of wheat supplies. In addition, the country's agro-industrial complex has significantly strengthened since the late Soviet Union: for example, in 1988, the Soviet Union purchased more than 35 million tons of grain for itself, while Russia exported 66 million tons of such products in 2023.

The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked about by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in the Russian Federation also received invitations to the event.

As of the morning of December 19, the number of appeals sent to the direct line with the President exceeded 2 million.
