Putin praised the work of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation

The state fund "Defenders of the Fatherland", which provides assistance to veterans of the special military operation (SVO) and family members of fallen fighters, has become a separate instrument to support the military. The result of its work is obvious, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 19 during the "Results of the Year".

As the head of state recalled, the fund was created at his suggestion after a meeting with the mothers of the participants of the SVO and widows. Its task is to support the guys who leave the military service, but require attention from the state. And not formal attention, but precisely an individual approach to each person and each family.

"I realized that the usual methods of support that we have had so far, and our guys who need this help and have been seriously wounded and disabled, and the families of our fallen heroes, are not enough. We need to create a separate mechanism and a separate tool, including for those who lose their ties with the Armed Forces," Putin explained.

The fund's tasks include solving social issues, helping to receive various benefits and payments. And for those who need prosthetics and have been disabled - in organizing these prosthetics.

"I must give credit to the fund - they are good, they order not just some product, they order the whole service. It has to do with training the guys, with selecting the appropriate object for prosthetics, they look further at the service, and so that it is not burdensome and so that you do not have to travel from one side of the world - and we have a huge country - and go across the country for the service. This problem still exists, but they are working on it," said the President.

Earlier, on December 6, Putin instructed the government to develop an action plan to improve the employment of participants of the special military operation (SMO) by March 1, 2025. In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers together with the state fund to support participants of the Special Military Operation "Defenders of the Fatherland" should consider the issue of holding a championship on professional skills among participants of the Special Military Operation, who are disabled, starting next year, as well as to identify sources of funding for such activities.

The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked about by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in Russia have also received invitations to the events.
