Putin calls sabotage against Russians signs of Kiev's terrorist regime

The sabotage against the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, and other Russians are signs of the terrorist nature of the Kiev regime, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 19 during the "Results of the Year."
"These attempts are not the first, they are known, the enemy's aspirations are clear to us. Unfortunately, this assassination attempt is not an isolated one. And not only on servicemen: <...> and on journalists assassination attempts, and on public figures assassination attempts. Suffice it to recall just the murder of [journalist and political scientist Darya] Dugina. Well, what is this? These are signs of the terrorist nature of the regime in Kiev," the head of state said.
In Putin's assessment, Kirillov's death means that the relevant services missed a blow.
"We just need to improve this work and not allow such severe punctures for us," the president emphasized.
Earlier during the "Results of the Year" Putin also noted, Kirillov's murder was committed in a way that was dangerous for many. He characterized the crime as a terrorist act and recalled that the regime in Kiev has repeatedly committed such crimes against many citizens.
Kirillov and his assistant were killed on the morning of December 17 as a result of detonation of an explosive device that was placed in a scooter near the entrance of an apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. A criminal case of murder, terrorist act and illegal arms trafficking was opened.
The next day the FSB reported the detention of a 29-year-old man in the case of the murder of Kirillov and his assistant. During interrogation, the attacker said that he had been recruited by the Ukrainian security services. He could face punishment up to life imprisonment. Later, on December 19, the suspect was investigated.
The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format, called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin", allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked about by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in Russia have also received invitations to the events.
As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million. The first live broadcast was held in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
