Earlier in the day, Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the Center for Law Enforcement in Moscow and the Moscow region, said that scammers using New Year's Eve promotions are gaining access to Russians' bank accounts. According to Khaminskiy, the con artists call with offers to buy goods with discounts of 50% or more. Operators claim that it is necessary to free the warehouses of large retail chains from the surplus of the current assortment, mentioning those goods that Russians usually purchase as New Year gifts.
