The situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the combat zone is extremely difficult. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Oleksandr Syrskyy in a conversation with the Chief of Defense Staff of the UK, Admiral Tony Radakin, on December 19.

"Familiarized the British colleague with the operational situation on the front line, which continues to be extremely difficult," Syrsky wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, Radakin assured that the UK will continue to help Ukraine, and certain aspects of support from its side will increase in 2025. He also added that assistance will continue to come from other European countries.

Earlier, on December 12, Syrskyy said that Russia was superior to the AFU in the Pokrovskoye (Russian name for Krasnoarmeyskoye) direction. At the time, he noted that the AFU had to make non-standard decisions to improve the stability of the defense.

Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko said on November 26 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not be experiencing such difficulties at the front now if the country's president Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20, had not started to reject the peace agreements signed with Russia in Istanbul two years ago.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
