There was a shooting in the parliament of Abkhazia. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Thursday, December 19, by Deputy Prosecutor General of the republic Ruslan Tyrkba.

"There was shooting in the parliament. An investigative-operative group went to the scene," Tyrkba said.

The circumstances of the incident are being established.

The state news agency Apsnypress with reference to the Ministry of Health of the republic reports that Abkhazian MP Vakhtang Golandzia died of his wounds.

It is specified that MP Kan Kvarchiya was also wounded in the arm. He was hospitalized.

"An investigation and operational team arrived at the scene," - stated in a message in the Telegram-channel.

It is noted that MP Adgur Kharazia, suspected of shooting in Parliament, fled the scene.

In early November, protests were held in the republic. A crowd gathered in front of the building of the State Security Service of Abkhazia in Sukhumi. It was specified that the reason for the clashes could have been information about the detention of several oppositionists.
