More than 20 lawsuits due to dog bites accepted by the court of Birobidzhan in 2024

Birobidzhan District Court during 2024 accepted more than 20 lawsuits for compensation for moral damages after dog attacks. The court has considered 22 such cases, three more are pending. Most of the victims are children from six to 14 years old.

In most cases the defendant is the city administration and only in two cases - the owners of the dogs. Animals attacked people in the yards of residential buildings, near garbage cans, garages or on playgrounds. One of the incidents was recorded in the neighborhood of the children's hospital.

All the victims told the court that after the attack of dogs they had to go to medical institutions and undergo a course of treatment.

The amounts to be recovered ranged from 15 thousand to 100 thousand rubles. The Mayor's Office of Birobidzhan appealed one of the decisions. However, the court of appeal left it unchanged, notes EAOMedia IA.

Earlier it was reported that a pack of stray dogs did not give passage to residents of the center of Birobidzhan. Stray animals occupied the territory in the area of Pushkin and Miller streets, where there used to be a stadium of the now demolished school.
