- The bill on granting veteran status to fighters in the Kursk region has been sent to the Cabinet of Ministers
A draft law that envisages granting veteran status to Russian fighters who repelled the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Kursk Region has been developed and sent to the government for conclusion. This was announced on December 19 by the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov.
"We sent the relevant bill for conclusion back in August. I hope that now the government will prepare a positive conclusion," - said Nilov in his Telegram-channel.
He noted that the issue may already be resolved in the spring session.
Earlier in the day during the "Results of the Year", Russian President Vladimir Putin said that all military personnel who participate in special operations should receive the payments that are due to them. The President said that if the special operation fighters are moved to Kursk region, where the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime is still in place, they should receive payments in full.
Back in early November, Putin in his congratulatory message to the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights on its 20th anniversary noted that control over the observance of the rights of special operation participants and their families is the most important area of the structure's activities.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded Russian territory are being liquidated.
