A new waste management project will be implemented in Transbaikalia


A regional project "Closed Space Economy" is being implemented in the Zabaikalsky Krai. The corresponding agreement was signed by the regional government.
The project was developed by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation within the framework of the national project "Environmental Wellbeing". It is designed for 2025-2030 years.
As IA ChitaMedia reports with reference to the agency, the goal of the project is to reduce waste disposal by 50% and recycle 25% of other types of garbage. As part of the project, the region plans to build facilities for recycling and disposal of solid waste, implement programs for the use of secondary resources. In addition, other solutions aimed at reducing the volume of garbage will be applied.
Earlier, on December 18, at the final plenary meeting of the autumn session of 2024, deputies considered in the first reading and adopted a bill correcting the system of accumulation and disposal of garbage.
On December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that within the framework of the national project "Ecology" in 60 regions 242 objects of accumulated harm to the environment, including 157 large landfills were eliminated. The territory of these objects was reclaimed, which made life more comfortable and safer for more than 20 million people, the head of state added.
