Given the development of Russian patriotic cinema, the problem of expanding the network of cinemas across the country is really important. In particular, they are lacking in the Arctic zone - in the Komi Republic and in the Far North. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" on December 19.
"We will certainly see what we can do additionally for small settlements, for the Arctic zone. Certainly, it is very important, because they are mostly small in terms of population there. <...> When it happens in a movie theater, it's a different atmosphere, a different mood. I will definitely look at it," the president remarked to the relevant request of journalist Darya Shuchalina from Komi.
He pointed out that with the withdrawal of Western film content producers from Russia, Russian film production has begun to develop at an even faster pace. This is especially true for historical movies and fairy tales.
"Many producers are leaving us, and God bless them. It pushes our own production, including movie production, it's true. And with such a unifying rise of society, of course, historical cinema is also very important. Our fairy tales, bylinas and so on are being revived. I myself sometimes watch it with pleasure with my close little ones. So you are right, I marked, we will try to respond, good," Putin added.
Earlier, on September 4, the head of the Russian Ministry of Culture Olga Lyubimova told the Izvestia studio at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) that at the moment 82% of the distribution in cinemas are Russian-made films. She emphasized that the country has returned to the level of box office receipts that it had before the pandemic.

The format called "The Year's Results with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked about by journalists.
