Seven victims of the accident near Murmansk transferred to regional hospitals

Seven victims of the collision of two trains near Murmansk have been transferred to regional medical facilities. This was reported by the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis in Telegram on December 19.

"Seven we transferred to regional institutions, five of them are being treated in the regional hospital," he said.

Doctors keep the situation under control and provide the injured with all the necessary assistance, Chibis added.

Maria Pryakhina Pryakhina, acting chief physician of the Kandalaksha Central District Hospital (CDH), said that after the incident 18 people were admitted to the institution and one more came from the scene of the accident independently. Among them four children.

The victims were assisted by psychologists, Pryakhina added.

At the moment, according to the information of the acting head doctor of the Kandalaksha Central Regional Hospital, three people are in intensive care in serious condition. The issue of their transfer to regional institutions is being discussed. Three patients are in stable condition in the surgical department, treatment of which will continue in Kandalaksha CRB.

Earlier in the day it was reported about the detention by investigators of the driver of the freight train that collided with a passenger train in the Murmansk region, as well as his assistant. The issue of selecting a measure of restraint due to suspicion of violation of traffic safety rules is being resolved.

Thecollision of the two trains occurred on December 18 at the arrival of a passengertrain at the station Knyazhaya. The passenger train, traveling on the route Murmansk - St. Petersburg, collided with a freight train. As a result of the collision, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars derailed.

According to the latest data, the accident killed two people, 31 people were injured. The Ministry of Health specifies that 10 victims, including three children, are in serious condition.

On the fact of the accident a criminal case under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was initiated.
