The situation at the line of contact in the zone of the special military operation to protect Donbas is changing dramatically, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) are advancing in all directions. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 19 during the "Results of the year".

"I must say that the situation is changing cardinally. You know it well, I just want to confirm it. There is movement along the entire front line, every day," Putin said.

The President noted that he was counting on questions of this kind. The head of state believes that they give an opportunity to show the actions of Russian fighters on the line of contact.

Putin stressed that the Russian Armed Forces do not advance by 100 or 200 meters, they liberate territories by square kilometers every day. The situation, according to the president, is developing according to the general classical scenario of combat operations: first, the incoming enemy is seriously defeated in equipment, and then Russian fighters begin to move forward, forcing the enemy to retreat.

The head of state noted that the Russian army fighters are acting heroically, moving towards the solution of primary tasks, and the capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces are increasing. In particular, now the military men of the 155th Guards Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet are going into battle, knocking out the enemy from the Kursk region. The President recalled that this unit had given him a copy of its battle flag and asked those present to unfurl it and show it to the audience.

The day before, on December 18, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said that the Russian army in 2024 had accomplished all the tasks set before it by the country's leadership. In addition, the units have gained a lot of practical experience during combat work. Armaments and military equipment are being updated in the troops.

The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in Russia have also received invitations to the events. As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million.

The first live broadcast took place in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
