The rise in prices in Russia is due to a combination of objective and subjective factors, one of them is the rapid growth of household incomes, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 19 during the "Results of the Year".

"Supply in the market should correspond to the population's income, purchasing power should correspond to the volume of goods produced in the country. Our incomes and wages have been growing at a faster rate than the growth of this commodity mass and output," the head of state said.

The second objective reason is connected with the harvest, the third - with the growth of world prices for some products, Putin said. He also noted a certain impact of sanctions, which are not of key importance, but somehow make logistics more expensive.

Among the subjective factors affecting prices, the president named certain shortcomings on the part of the Central Bank. At the same time, he noted that the Russian government is working efficiently and taking many measures with an eye to the future.

At the same time, the head of state drew attention to the need to work on plans for certain sectors of the economy and production, including consumer goods.

Earlier in the day, the Russian leader said that the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of the Russian Federation in 2024 will amount to 3.9-4%. At the same time, wages have grown by 9% in real terms, and unemployment is at a record low of 2.3%.

The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in Russia have also received invitations to the events.

As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million. The first live broadcast was held in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
