Reconstruction of the Shchelkovsky inter-district sewage treatment facilities has been completed in the Moscow region. This is reported by the online edition "Podmoskovie Segodnya" with reference to the Ministry of Housing and Utilities of the region.

The works were carried out without stopping the activities of the enterprise. The total area of the development is more than 40 hectares. The capacity of the renewed treatment facilities will be 400 thousand cubic meters per day with a coverage of more than 1.3 million people.

The facility has introduced additional wastewater treatment using self-flushing disc filters, ultraviolet water disinfection and sludge stabilization using gas treatment systems and aerobic stabilizers. This will reduce gas emissions into the atmosphere and prevent unpleasant odors.

The modernization was carried out within the framework of the national project "Ecology" and the federal project "Preservation and Prevention of Pollution of the Volga River".
