Russian Armed Forces liberate Zelenovka and Novy Komar settlements in the DNR

The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the settlements of Zelenovka and Novy Komar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 19.

"As a result of successful offensive actions, units of the Vostok group of troops have liberated the settlements of Zelenovka and Novy Komar in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the Russian army defeated various formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the settlements of Bogatyr, Velikaya Novoselka, Zelenoye Polye and Vremivka in the DNR. The Russian Armed Forces also repelled an enemy counterattack.

According to the Defense Ministry, in total, during the special military operation, the Ukrainian army lost over 29,000 units of special military vehicles, as well as 650 aircraft, 283 helicopters, and 590 anti-aircraft missile systems.

Earlier, on December 18, the Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Trudovoye and Starye Terny in the DNR. In addition, Russian troops repelled 11 counterattacks by the AFU, destroyed a Canadian-made Senator armored fighting vehicle and up to 440 militants.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
