Zakharova called the level of decline of journalism in the West unprecedented

The degree of decline of Western journalism is unprecedented. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on December 19, commenting on the lack of Western reaction to the death of the head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense (RCBZ) troops of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant in Moscow.
"The extent of the downfall of Western journalism, Western public opinion, which is formed by so-called experts, is, in my opinion, unprecedented. These are people who changed avatars, painted the Brandenburg Gate, the Eiffel Towers in different colors on different occasions. Here the reason is direct - it is a terrorist attack, which only by a miracle did not spread to the residents of an apartment building in the city center," Zakharova said on the air of "Solovyov.Live".
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman noted that the UN also failed to condemn the murder of General Kirillov.
"This is either venality or profanity," Zakharova said.
On December 17, the UN office refrained from condemning the killing of General Kirillov and his aide. UN Secretary General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric noted that the organization was aware of the incident and called on all sides to show restraint.
On December 16, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman already pointed to the lack of Western reaction to the attack, except for statements by the Financial Times and the BBC. In her opinion, both publications act as a mouthpiece of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), calling the murdered general a legitimate target.
Igor Kirillov and his aide were killed on the morning of December 17 by an explosive device planted in a scooter parked next to a driveway. The explosion occurred near a seven-story apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. A criminal case of murder, terrorist act and illegal arms trafficking (Article 105, Article 205 and Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was opened over the incident.
For his part, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of Ukraine, noted that the general had cited evidence that was threatening and painful for Russia's adversaries. The governor of the Kostroma Region, Sergey Sitnikov, said that Kirillov had warned that he was being hunted.
