Air defense forces eliminated 84 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over Russian regions

The air defense forces destroyed 84 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) overnight over the territory of Russia. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 19.

"36 drones were destroyed over the territory of Rostov region, 21 - over the territory of Bryansk region, 14 - over the territory of Belgorod region, six - over the territory of Voronezh region, three each - over the territories of Kursk and Tambov regions and one - over the territory of Krasnodar region," the Defense Ministry said.

Earlier in the day, acting governor of the region Yuri Slyusar said that air defense forces destroyed seven drones over the Rostov region, six of them in Taganrog and one in Bataysk. He later clarified that an oil products factory in Novoshakhtinsk caught fire after the Ukrainian attack. According to Slyusar's information, one person was injured as a result of falling UAV debris in the region.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
