Pushilin called Zelensky a liability for Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired on May 20, has become a liability for the team of the US leader-elect Donald Trump. This was stated by the head of the DNR Denis Pushilin on December 19.
"Zelensky is like a suitcase without a handle. And he is, of course, frightened by the bleak prospects, so he tries to use communication with the 47th President of the United States to somehow justify himself to him. After all, he made a bet, bet everything on the wrong person, and Trump is unlikely to forgive such a thing," he told RIA Novosti.
Pushilin noted that the constant "throwing" of the Ukrainian President and his appeals to the current US President Joe Biden on the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO look like "an attempt to jump on a train that left long ago".
Earlier, on December 17, American political scientist Francis Fukuyama said in an interview with Le Point magazine that Trump intends to resolve the conflict in Ukraine at the expense of Kiev's interests. Fukuyama noted that Ukraine may offer territorial concessions in exchange for guarantees of NATO membership, but European leaders may not go for it because of additional military commitments.
On December 13, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg admitted the end of the conflict in Ukraine in the coming months. According to him, the President-elect of the United States is capable of decisive actions to resolve conflicts.
Before that, on November 29, the Foreign Intelligence Service pointed to NATO's desire to freeze the conflict in Ukraine in order to restore the Armed forces of Ukraine. It was noted that the West may plan to use this to restore the Ukrainian army and prepare for a future offensive.
The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
