Igor Krasnov's candidacy for the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation will be discussed in the Federation Council

The candidacy of Igor Krasnov for the post of Prosecutor General of Russia will be considered at a meeting of the Federation Council committees on December 19. This was reported by the head of the constitutional Committee of the Council Andrei Klishas.

"The Federation Council received the submission of the President of the Russian Federation for appointment to the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov. According to the regulations of the chamber, the committees of the Federation Council at a joint meeting on December 19, 2024 will hold a preliminary discussion of the submitted candidacy," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Igor Krasnov is the current Prosecutor General.

Earlier, on September 25, the Federation Council re-elected Valentina Matviyenko as chairwoman of the upper house of parliament. Senator Yuri Vorobyev proposed to vote in favor of Matvienko's election. No other candidates were nominated.
