Vilfand warned Muscovites of changeable weather for the rest of the week

The weather in Moscow will change sharply and often during this week. This was reported to "RIA Novosti" on December 19 "RIA Novosti" by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.

"During this week the rate is elevated. There are a number of conditions for this... The situation is changing very quickly, it can be compared to an accelerated movie, when the frames run much faster than usual," he said.

Vilfand noted that on Friday, December 20, residents of the capital expect a thaw to +3 degrees Celsius, similar weather will remain on Saturday. However, on Sunday afternoon the temperature will fall to -6. Despite such weather changes, the snow cover in Moscow will remain.

"Of course, the snow that fell, it will remain, nothing bad will happen to it - there is a lot of it, it is not just high, in Moscow it is already up to 20 cm, and in Tushino - even 28-29 cm," - said the meteorologist.

Earlier, on December 18, Vilfand said that in the regions of the North-Western and Central Federal Districts of Russia (NWFD and CFD) forecast abnormally cold weather with frosts up to -30 degrees Celsius. He added that the temperature in the Tver, Moscow and Yaroslavl regions will be 6-9 degrees below normal.
