The mother of the victim of the train crash near Murmansk reported on her daughter's condition

The mother of a girl injured in a train collision in the Kandalaksha district of the Murmansk region told Izvestia about her daughter's condition and the incident.

"We are being transported to the regional hospital. We are on examination, now at the moment they are examining more. My sister is in intensive care, everything is fine with me," she shared.

According to the woman, she was in the car, which went off the rails, and was traveling with her daughter, husband, sister and her family. The victim's mother also pointed out that her sister was diagnosed with a broken leg.

"We're scared, everybody here is scared. I'm standing under the office right now, the child is getting a CT scan," she said.

Thecollision between the two trains occurred earlier in the day when a passengertrain arrived at the Knyazhaya station in the Murmansk region. According to the Russian Railways press service, a passenger train traveling on the Murmansk-St. Petersburg route collided with a freight train. As a result of the collision, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars derailed. At the time of the accident there were 326 people in the passenger train, one person died.

After the collision, the transport department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of railway transport"). The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, demanded a report on the progress of the investigation into the train collision in the Kandalaksha district of Murmansk Region.
