After several months of fighting, Ivanovo paratroopers liberated the Novy microdistrict in Chasovy Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The servicemen told Izvestiya about the fighting.

The main clashes in the settlement are taking place in the industrial zone and urban development. As the fighters noted, the most difficult thing is the liberation of five-story buildings, as units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are based in them on the top floors and put anti-tank missiles and mortars in the windows.

"We took a four-storey building where the occupants were entrenched. Two machine gunners, eight machine gunners. A sniper. We took it in two groups. My group and Turpal's group. We went in head-on," shared with Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak the commander of the assault group with the call sign Zeus.

Another fighter, a gunner of the assault company with the call sign Poplavok said that he received a contusion during the assault. The AFU fighters used drones of different models to try to attack the Russian fighters, from FPV drones to Baba Yaga and Mavic. Despite this, artillery-backed attack drones continue to destroy Ukrainian units and equipment.

"Especially such equipment as MaxxPro. Not once has already been hit by our compound and our unit," shared the commander of the control platoon with the call sign Mezha.

Earlier, on December 3, fighters of the Russian Armed Forces told about the advancement in the Chasovoyarsk direction. The military noted that in parallel with the reflection of Ukrainian UAV attacks, the military continue to suppress AFU positions. The fighters continue to advance on the northern flank of the Chasovoyarsk direction.

Prior to that, on November 30, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that tankers hit an AFU UAV control point near Chasov Yar. By providing fire support, the crews of the group's T-72B3 tanks are helping the assault units to occupy more favorable lines and positions, as well as inflicting fire damage on the Ukrainian troops' manpower and equipment, disrupting rotations and the supply of ammunition to the AFU units.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
